Skincare Issues, Family and Traditional Remedies
From childhood, I struggled with persistent acne, uneven skin tone, and stubborn dark spots. As a person with darker skin, these concerns seemed more pronounced. My father, even at the age of 60, continued to battle occasional breakouts. Meanwhile, my mother, blessed with clear skin, advocated various traditional remedies such as turmeric, dahi (curd), multani mitti (Fuller's earth), raw milk, cucumbers, and countless others. Unfortunately, these remedies proved ineffective for me, leading me to question their universal applicability. While acknowledging their value in specific scenarios, I realized that a broader approach was necessary to address my skin concerns comprehensively.
Exploring Science-Backed Skincare Ingredients
Driven by the desire for evidence-based solutions, I dived into scientific research on skincare ingredients. Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, glycerin, salicylic acid and panthenol emerged as ingredients known to work on different skin types and climates. Learning about their benefits, safety, and how they worked gave me confidence that a serum with these ingredients could be effective for Indian skin.
Indian skin, with its higher melanin content, is more prone to hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. These concerns are not as prevalent in Caucasian skin types. Additionally, Indian skin often tends to be oilier, which can lead to breakouts and acne-related issues. I focused on ingredients addressing these issues.
Creating a Serum for All Indian Skin Types
Armed with newfound knowledge, I embarked on a journey to develop a face serum that blended traditional wisdom with scientific insights. Over four years, I experimented and refined the formula, seeking feedback from friends, family, and volunteers.
The result? A remarkable face serum catered to the unique needs of Indian skin. It combines ingredients like Vitamin C for brightening and collagen production, Niacinamide for addressing hyperpigmentation and regulating sebum, Hyaluronic Acid and glycerin for hydration, salicylic acid for gentle exfoliation, panthenol for soothing and healing and many more ingredients to give our skin the right care.
